I went to Hamura City Zoo to see the giraffe.

My family like animals.  We go out to the zoo frequently. I went to Hamura City Zoo in Hamura City for the first time. The main purpose is a giraffe, my wife’s favorite.

Access to Hamura City Zoo, parking, and entrance fees.

Hamura City Zoo is located in Hamura City, as its name suggests, in western Tokyo. It was a little ahead of Yokota air base. My home is Mitaka. When I moved by car aiming for the opening time of 09:00, I was able to move smoothly without traffic at this time and arrived in about an hour.

There was a parking lot and it was 300 yen per one time parking. It was reasonably, but it was almost full in the afternoon. We recommend that you have to go early.

The entrance fee is 600 yen for 2 adults, 300 yen for per person. I think it’s very reasonable.

Animal display

The good point about small zoos is that we are closer to the animals than big zoos. Of course there are fences and cages, but in some cases you can reach out and see the animals at a distance you can touch.

For example, in the indoor display of the red panda, which is immediately after entering, there is a red panda in front of you, separated by a glass. Unfortunately I could not see their face this time, but I was able to see how they carefully groomed their forefoot.

Some displays of animals had Japanese fairy tales and old stories in the exhibition. For example, a crane has “Tsuru’s repayment” and a turtle has “Taro Urashima”.  If you have children, is this also a place to enjoy?

Especially nice and cute animals

Penguins

You can see the penguin under your eyes. You can observe details such as the texture of the wings. I was able to see up close, sunny, swimming, and occasionally fighting.

Green macaw

It was just a feeding time. A single parakeet moved to the front to show me how they eat that. Did they want to boast delicious one?

giraffes

I was able to see giraffes. There were three. They are probably families. It was very nice that a small child walked in front of me.

meerkats

The meerkats here is looks like a family. It seemed that the dad was standing up and watching around him. The mum and children who came up next to dad and stood up and cheered up made me feel worming.

Summary

I wrote about Hamura City Zoo, parking lots, exhibits in general and cute animals. Access to western Tokyo may be a little difficult, but please make sure you make it a destination candidate when you go out.
