DELL XPS13 2-in-1 Review. I was able to monitor again with DELL Ambassador.
What laptop do you use? I usually use Macbook pro 13inch 2016 model. Three years have passed since I started using it, and I am now thinking about what to do with my next computer. This time I got the opportunity to monitor DELL’s XPS 13 2-in-1 with the DELL Ambassador Program. I will write the quick review etc. so I hope that it will be helpful for those who are considering to buy XPS 13 2-in-1.
What is the DELL Ambassador Program?
It is a program that allows you to experience DELL XPS series or Alienware series, be invited to DELL events, and receive special purchase plans. The other day, I reviewed XPS15 2-in-1. I have reviewed XPS15 2-in-1 and wrote about its usability. Those who are interested in XPS15 2-in-1 are also grateful if you refer to this as well. If you are considering to buy DELL products, registering with Ambassador may give you an opportunity to try out the product before purchasing, so it is highly recommended.
I won XPS13 2-in-1 monitor
As I wrote above, I just recently monitored the XPS 15 2-in-1, but this time I will also monitor the XPS 13 2-in-1. I really liked the Maglev keyboard that I was most concerned about with the XPS15 2-in-1 and the beauty of the screen, but I was worried that it was 15 inches, of course it is heavy. When I returned to the XPS15 2-in-1 and looked at DELL’s HP again, the XPS13 2-in-1 was also new, and the weight was almost the same as the Macbook pro 13inch, a narrow display, and a Maglev keyboard installed. It was an interesting model. In addition, the English keyboard is very nice when I select beautiful white! I was looking for a monitor in good timing, so I don’t think I can win it anymore. Thankfully I applied for a monitor and was lucky enough to win the monitor.

XPS13 2-in-1 appearance
Color
The main body color of the XPS 13 2-in-1 that I monitor this time is white. The outer part of the main body is aluminum, and it is white when I opened. The palm rest part is made of woven glass fiber for a luxurious look. It has a very simple look with a simple English keyboard and white color. It seems that black is popular in the world, but I personally think that this white appearance is clean and very good.
Body size
XPS13 2-in-1 is slightly smaller in length and width than Macbook pro 13inch, and the thickness is slightly larger. It’s almost the same when you put it on the desk. The picture below is a stack of Macbook pro 13inch.
Display
The XPS13 2-in-1 narrow frame display is almost entirely the display. Therefore, the height when the display is opened is a little lower than the Macbook pro 13inch, and it makes the whole look compact.
Keyboard
The keyboard mounted on XPS13 2-in-1 is a Maglev keyboard that magnetically lifts the keyboard. I also felt it with XPS15 2-in-1 and I personally like it because it has more rigidity and keystroke feeling than the keyboard of Macbook pro 13 inch. Also, since the Macbook pro 13inch butterfly keyboard has lots of trouble information (I also change the keys twice, the keys do not respond, I have replaced it by chattering.) etc. I like it also the white model becomes an English keyboard, which is very good. English / Japanese input switching is possible with CTL + CAPSLOCK (I have been accustomed to this, although there are other methods).
Mass, weight
The XPS13 2-in-1 weighs about 1.33kg and the Macbook pro 13inch weighs about 1.37kg, but the XPS13 2-in-1 feels lighter when I carried that. It’s very important that you don’t have to go to your desk or conference room frequently to work. I was worried about the weight when using XPS15 2-in-1, but after all XPS13 2-in-1 is lighter than that of course. When I emphasize image processing specifications, I select the XPS15 2-in-1, but when it comes to portability, it’s probably the XPS13 2-in-1. If I want more image processing capability, recently there are external graphic boards, so XPS13 2-in-1 + external graphic board seems to be better.
Connection ports
The ports is USB-C Thunderbolt3 x2, micro SD card reader x1, earphone jack x1. Since it can be charged via USB-C Thunderbolt 3, I don’t use the included adapter and charging cable, use the USB-C PD on the external display to supply power. I was able to charge it with other USB-C PD products. It is convenient to be able to charge with USB-C regardless of the type of power adapter. I am worried that the number of ports is 2 and less than the number of ports of Macbook pro 13inch is 4, but I have never connected different devices to each of the 4 ports of Macbook pro 13inch, so it is enough for two. Honestly, I haven’t used a micro SD card reader so far, so I think that I wanted to replace this to another USB-C Thunderbolt 3.
XPS13 2-in-1 usability
I’m writing this article using XPS 13 2-in-1. As you write blogs and emails, the feel of typing on the Maglev keyboard is comfortable and you can use it comfortably both in private and at work. Also, I’m used to a black PC, so the look of this white is very fresh. There is also a feeling of cleanliness. Marks of oils stands out on a black keyboard, but not so much on a white keyboard. I think the white model is also good in this respect.
Summay
I wrote about the appearance and usability of the XPS 13 2-in-1 that I monitored with the DELL Ambassador. I personally think that it is a good PC that satisfies the desire to own. I hope it will be helpful for those who are considering XPS13 2-in-1.
