I have seen the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M at the Hiec Center in Japan.
I like mechanical watches. I’ve been chilling for a while, but I’ve been looking into some blog posts to find out about the new OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M, which is new this year. I had an errand to go to Ginza, so I went to see Nicholas G. Hayek Center.
Nicholas G. Hayek Center
The Nicholas G. Hayek Center in Ginza is a watch showroom belonging to the Swatch Group and the Swatch Group head office. OMEGA belongs to the Swatch Group, so I expected that there would be many new models here. The expectation was that we had a nearly full line-up of the new Seamaster Diver 300M.
By the way, the elevator on the 1st floor of the Hiec Center is directly connected to each brand’s floor. I feel something special and I think it is a very good performance. This time, we will go up to the 2nd floor of the OMEGA floor with a dedicated elevator. A clock is also displayed in the elevator, adding to the special feeling.
OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M
I think the Seamaster of OMEGA is famous as the watch of 007 played by Pierce Brosnan. The OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M is a new model that has undergone a full model change as it celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2018. The wave pattern of the dial has been reprinted, and the latest technology and materials have been adopted for each part to update it.
OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M lineup
This time, the dial color is gray.
There are 3 types of stainless steel models, blue, black and gray dial colors, and each has a bracelet model and 2 rubber strap models, for a total of 6 types.
There are two types of combination models, Sedna gold and yellow gold, and two dial colors, blue and black, respectively, and two combination models and two rubber strap models, for a total of eight types.
OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M movement
The movement used is Cal.8800. A METAS certified master chronometer with 35 stones, 25,200 vibrations per hour (3.5Hz), a 55-hour power reserve, and a silicone free sprung balance with a magnetic resistance of 15,000 gauss. You can see this movement from the see-through back.
I actually tried the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M.
When I was looking at the showcase, the salesclerk spoke to me, so when I told him that he was interested in the diver 300M, he was guided to the back space at the table … There was a drink service, so I asked for hot coffee.
He told me he was interested in the blue dial bracelet model and the yellow gold bracelet model and showed them and two others.

When I put it on, it fits nicely on my arm and I don’t feel the weight of the bracelet very much. It has a very good fit. This time, the bracelet was made very well, and the edges of each frame stood out, and I felt that the feeling of luxury was different from the previous model. There is a simple size adjustment mechanism inside the buckle, so I think it is very convenient when you are swelling or when you want to stop from the top of the wet suit, which is the original usage.
The image of the diver 300M is probably a blue dial stainless bracelet, but this time I personally like the black dial yellow gold combination. Yellow gold shines on the black dial and is very good.
The blue dial Sedona Gold combination was the most comfortable to wear on my arm.
Compared to the black dial, the blue dial and yellow gold combination did not show the yellow gold, which made me feel uncomfortable.
Summary
I have seen OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M at Nicholas G. Hayek Center in Ginza. The new model is much better than the old model in appearance, exterior and movement. It’s a mechanical watch, so it’s a luxury item, but it’s a cheap price when you look at its specs and looks (it’s a little less than 600,000yen as of December 2018 on a blue dial stainless steel bracelet).
