The second adult school excrtion. Hiroshima travel sample sightseeing route. Mainly the Atomic Bomb Dome and Yamato Museum.
I went to Hiroshima as a second adult school excursion with friends who went to Kagoshima for an adult school excursion. The theme of adult school excursions is “learn about war”, so the main destinations are the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Yamato Museum.

Day 1 Okonomiyaki in Hiroshima City
Arrival at Hiroshima Airport was late at 21:00. You can rent a rental car and go to Hiroshima at once. After checking in to the hotel, hurry to the downtown area. Hiroshima is okonomiyaki! So I went here.
Okonomiyaki Koshida Hu store
I had okonomiyaki, oyster grilled, and tonpei grilled. There is an iron plate in front of you, and it is delicious to cut it with a spatula and eat it. I tried Tonpei-yaki for the first time, but it’s delicious. It’s as easy as wrapping fried pork and vegetables in an egg, so you can do it at home.
I’m full so I decided to take a quick break for tomorrow’s main event and the first day is over.
The second day is the main school excursion for adults. Learn about war.
- Atomic bomb dome
The second day is the main study day. First to the Atomic Bomb Dome. Unfortunately, when we went there, there was a scaffolding around the Atomic Bomb Dome and we couldn’t see the whole view neatly, but when we looked around it, the damage from the A-bomb remained everywhere. Personally, I was impressed by the fact that the melting point is more intense than the cracking or breaking points.
- Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
From the Atomic Bomb Dome through the Peace Memorial Park to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.
Here you will find photographs and materials that show the victims’ survivors and the devastation of the bombing. If you look at it all, you can see the terribleness and horror of the power of the atomic bomb. I think we must create an era where the same thing will not happen. - Yamato Museum
Move from Hiroshima City to Kure and go to the Yamato Museum. This is where I personally wanted to go. When you enter the venue, JAF members will get a discount, so don’t forget the members.
This is the battleship Yamato, which has been reproduced on the 1/10 scale. It was exhibited immediately after entering, and its size was a masterpiece. It is beautifully crafted based on the blueprints, photos, and diving surveys at that time. With this as a background, there is a service that you can wear a military cap and take a picture, so please come. Many of the exhibits here are technical, and they were of great interest to me who normally do such work.
There is a submarine next to the Yamato Museum. This is the JMSDF Kure Historical Museum. Unfortunately this time I didn’t have much time and I couldn’t get here. I also want to make an opportunity to visit Hiroshima and see this as well.
Okonomiyaki on the second night also.
Even on the second night, it’s definitely okonomiyaki! So here is the famous place in Hiroshima.
Okonomiyaki Yashio
It’s a popular store, so 10 minutes before the opening to make sure you can enter. The okonomiyaki that was carefully prepared in front of me was fluffy and very delicious. However, it took a long time from the beginning to make it. Perhaps 30 minutes or more. I would be grateful if you could serve me a little faster.
Tonight, this is a Okonomiyaki again! This is where I got in the way.
Lightning
The feature of Okonomiyaki here is how it looks! It is wrapped in eggs like omelet rice. I asked for some kinds of toppings, but the most recommended one is cheese. It was delicious.
It seems that Denkaseki is currently operating in Tokyo and there is a store at Tokyo Station. If you want to eat okonomiyaki that looks cute and is delicious, please go. I will go too.
Miyajima
The third day is Miyajima sightseeing. I visited Itsukushima Shrine and received freshly made maple buns. It was just fluffy. Every Momiji Manjuya shop in Miyajima is freshly made and sold, so please try it.
This is a Hiroshima souvenir! Senji Meat
Speaking of Hiroshima souvenirs, the first thing that comes to mind is the maple buns that I ate on Miyajima. Is this true for everyone? The best thing I bought for some souvenirs this time was senjimek. Senjime is fried hormone and seasoned with salt. I’m sorry because it has fried hormones, but it does not look delicious. However, when you try it, you will be addicted to its unique chewy texture and the more you chew it. I think that it suits alcohol regardless of type, so if you like alcohol, please try it.
Summary
I wrote about the second adult school trip, Hiroshima trip. This itinerary was a little too crowded and it became a little busy. I think everyone will be able to enjoy it slowly if you plan on this one day more.
